About Us

Mission

FDR seeks to provide students with a learning environment that prioritizes grade level, cross-curricular learning experiences in partnership with renowned art organizations, that strengthen students’ content knowledge, academic skills, and artistic abilities, through a student-centered, creative process.

Vision

Using an art integration approach to teaching and learning, students will develop a love of learning by making deeper connections to academic content while strengthening their attainment of grade level standards and skills, creating critical and creative thinkers who are prepared for the demands of higher education and beyond.

PS/MS 34 has been adding more Arts programming this school year.  Students now have teachers of the Theater Arts and Visual Arts.

And check out these “I am From” videos created by Ethan and Habsa.

PS/MS 34 students also experience Arts enrichment in the Middle School SONYC after-school program and with our partners at Repertorio.

Students explore their creativity through unique classes like Genius Hour and Community Action where they follow their passions and learn to activate their voices on issues critical to the community.

More partnerships to come to add music and dance to our growing arts program.

PS/MS 34 is innovating our community to create more modern learning opportunities for our students and families.

We have added the following courses this year for middle school students:  Genius Hour, Community Action, Mandarin, and our first High School level Regents course – Living Environment.

Our Middle School after-school partners, SONYC, have also been innovating their programs to bring new learning opportunities and enrichment to after-school programming.  Watch here for more information from SONYC Program Director, Anthony Santos.

Our students explore their varied curiosities in innovative class experiences, field trips, and in arts, sports, and other enrichment programs.
